Students’ hands shot in the air long before Matt Marshak could even finish asking for a volunteer to help his fellow musicians on stage at Washington Drive Primary School on Dec. 20.

The “Strummin’ and Drummin’ guitarist invited students to play makeshift instruments, drums and boom whackers alongside Billy and his brother Chris. Students sang the words to classic sing along songs, as well as learned the lyrics to the group’s original single “Oochee Wa Wa."

For 15 years, the brothers have traveled across Long Island, Connecticut and New York City to perform the perfect combination of education and entertainment, or “edutainment.”

The program is hosted by the Parent Teachers Association Arts in Education Committee and, for many years, has been a roaring success at Washington Drive.
