Congratulations to Harborfields High School seniors Aiden Cordero and Simon Kapen, who were recently announced as finalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship program. Both students were selected among approximately 16,000 students as semifinals this past fall and will compete against the top 1% of students nationwide for one of 7,600 scholarships, totaling $19 million.
In addition to their academics, both Aiden and Simon are very active in their school community. Aiden is a member of the math, robotics and creative computing clubs, whereas Simon is the lead programmer for the robotics club and a member of the tennis team and marching band.
After graduation, Aiden plans to study computational biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Simon on the other hand plans to major in computer science and is considering Michigan State University or Cornell University.
Notification of National Merit Scholarship recipients will be released between the spring and summer months of 2020. Congratulations Aiden and Simon!
