WDPS Students Say Goodbye to Television!

Students at Washington Drive Primary School in the Harborfields Central School District recently took part in the school’s annual “Cold Turkey” program. They were visited by Linda Meglio, librarian at the Harborfields Public Library, who issued a challenge to the students: turn off the television, computer, and video games for five days and try other activities instead. Reading a new book, baking a cake, and playing catch outside were just a few of the alternatives Ms. Meglio offered the young students.
Ms. Meglio also explained that the library is hosting other activities throughout the week to peak children’s interest, from a “name the turkey” contest to various craft activities. If the students complete the “Cold Turkey” challenge, they will be invited to a special “Bubblemania” celebration at the library.
