WDPS Students Explore the Nation

Second-grade students in Ms. Fenter’s class at Washington Drive Primary School recently travelled across the nation from the comfort of their own classroom. As part of a larger geography lesson, the students each picked a state to research and report on. During their presentation to the class, students were asked to locate their chosen state on the map and answer certain questions from Ms. Fenter.
They were able to tell the class about a famous person born in their selected state and other interesting facts. One student, presenting on South Dakota, told students she learned that Mount Rushmore is a famous landmark in that state. Another second grader talked about the lure of Key West in Florida. Overall, the project was not only a terrific lesson on geography for the students, but further practice in their presentation skills.
