TJL Teachers Share Their Best Practices

In early December, Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School was privileged to host visitors from two elementary schools from the Garden City School District.  The purpose of the visit was for Garden City teachers and administrators to observe Lahey’s Balanced Literacy in action.  Visitors had the opportunity to observe several teachers modeling guided reading instruction and writer’s workshop.  They also had the opportunity to visit TJL’s literacy bookroom.  At a debriefing session following the classroom visits, resources and strategies were shared.  Our visitors left with a plethora of information and were beaming with motivation and excitement.

The professional sharing was enriching for both TJL and Garden City teachers.  The visiting principal was so impressed with the visit she thanked all participants by saying, “It was wonderful to share the magic of TJL with our visitors.”
