In mid-January, Washington Drive Primary School kicked off its annual Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) event, sponsored by the school’s PTA. During PARP week, students are encouraged to read at home (with the help of parents, if needed) for at least 20 minutes a day. The school’s goal for the week is for the entire student body to read a cumulative 2,011 hours.

The theme of this year’s PARP week is “Follow the Reading Road.” To kick off the week, parents were invited to the school for a read-in, during which parents found cozy corners of the school and curled up to read a selection of books to their children.

According to PTA Co-President Michelle Gegwich, “The Washington Drive teachers are always so supportive of this program and help the children meet their reading goals.”
