Two Students Earn ‘Best in Grade’

Congratulations to eighth-grader Amanda Saladino and seventh-grader Jacqueline Wegmann for winning the Town of Huntington’s 14th annual Huntington in Bloom Art Contest. “Only three winners from each grade level were chosen from the entire town, making their selection quite impressive,” said art teacher Drew Lockwood. This is the third year that Amanda was selected for the contest, earning Best in Grade for this year’s competition. Jacqueline also won Best in Grade for her artwork.

Each student received a $50 gift card and Oldfield Middle School was awarded a $100 grant to be used for art supplies. The district would like to thank the Huntington Arts Council, the Heckscher Museum of Art and Astoria Federal Savings, the contest’s major sponsor. Prints of the winning artwork are currently on display in the front lobby of Oldfield Middle School.
