Oldfield Middle School hosted its annual OMS Idol to raise money in memory of beloved teacher Pam Long, who passed away earlier this year. The schoolwide fundraiser, coordinated by the school’s guidance department with special help from sixth-grade social studies teacher Jen Klein, featured a variety of performances by OMS teachers. Teachers Jen Ahrens, Sue Broderick, Chris Havranek, Mike Hopkins, Jessica Lowenhar, Joe Maiello, Rob McCoy and Monica Zenyuh shared their talents.

In addition, the event featured a raffle of prizes such as an electric guitar and amp, tickets to a Broadway show and various gift cards. At the end of the event, eighth-grade English teacher Kerrie Brierton was crowned the 2014 OMS Idol and more than $3,500 was raised for the Pam A. Long Memorial Fund. The district thanks the SEPTA and PTA volunteers for their donations and time in assisting with the event.
