Washington Drive Primary School held its kindergarten spring show on May 16. Jack Be Nimble, Old King Cole, and both the Dish and the Spoon were all in attendance to recite timeless nursery rhymes in front of a rapt audience of parents and fellow students. The actors, comprised of Mrs. Divers’ kindergarten class of 26 students, rehearsed for six weeks to pull off the ensemble performance.

Mrs. Divers directed the performance while costumed kids took turns reciting the nursery rhymes as they searched for the missing goose. The show also featured songs, such as “What a Wonderful World” and “Proud to Be an American.”

“We’ve been doing nursery rhymes in the classroom,” said Divers, a 14-year veteran at Harborfields. “They learn vocabulary; they learn sequence, literacy, comprehension and how to recognize high frequency words. They also learn a little acting,” she said.

After the show, parents had the opportunity to take photographs with their little ones and enjoy an after-show gathering with light snacks and refreshments.
