Approximately 70 students from Harborfields High School attended an assembly presented by the international charity and education partner, Free the Children, on May 21.  As part of a larger program sponsored by Virgin Atlantic, speakers Natalia Berhow and Tom Brinker brought to life the struggles of many children around the world, such as child labor, slavery, poverty and various other human rights violations.  After the assembly, 30 students returned the school’s multipurpose room with the speakers and social studies teacher Michelle Da Silva to conduct a workshop that revolved around the theme, and famous Gandhi quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”  Students debated issues, and worked together to devise a plan of action that the high school Global Justice Club will put in place next school year.
