Students at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School raised $1,200 this school year for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, an organization that provides housing for families who have children being treated for illnesses in local hospitals. Thomas J. Lahey students raised the money through the school’s annual volleyball tournament at the end of January.

In mid-May, Joe O’Connor, a representative from the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, visited Thomas J. Lahey students to thank them for their donation and speak about the mission of the organization. “You really worked well together as a group,” said O’Connor. “Twelve hundred dollars is a sizable donation for an elementary school, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
