The district congratulates high school social studies teacher Michelle DaSilva-Burke on being awarded $5,000 from Capella University during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Over the past few months, Capella held a contest that asked students to nominate the teacher who most inspires them for Teacher Appreciation Week. After students posted their answers on Facebook, a winner was chosen based on which post had the most “likes.”

The posts of the three students who nominated DaSilva-Burke received the most likes of all nominees. For winning the contest, Harborfields High School was awarded $5,000 in DaSilva-Burke’s name.

Of the award, DaSilva-Burke said, “I am hoping we will be able to use it as seed money to either repair or replace the sound system in the high school auditorium.”
