Dear Harborfields’ Community,

I would like to provide an update on the Board of Education’s Annual Reorganization meeting held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

At the July 8th Board meeting, the president and vice president were sworn in. For the 2014-15 school year, Dr. Thomas McDonagh will again serve in the capacity of Board president and Don Mastroianni will serve as Board vice president. Each will hold these positions for the duration of the 2014-15 school year.

In addition, Nicholas Giuliano and David Steinberg were sworn into their positions as Board of Education trustees for a term of three years.

It was also announced at the meeting that Maggie Boba has resigned from the Board, effective July 3. As explained at the meeting by district clerk Sharon Whelan, the Board has three options regarding the vacant seat. It can hold a special election within 90 days to fulfill the remainder of Ms. Boba’s term, which is set to expire at the end of the 2014-15 school year; it can appoint a qualified person to fulfill the term; or the Board could choose to leave the seat vacant for the remainder of the term.

The Board of Education has decided to leave the seat vacant for the duration of Ms. Boba’s term.

Thank you,

Diana Todaro
