The district is proud to announce that five high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Students Alisa Chang, Ryan Dondero, Hannah Johnston, Matthew Pressman and Eli Slamowitz are among the top 16,000 students throughout the nation who are being acknowledged for their exceptional academic achievement.

All five students placed among the top five percent of more then 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. National Merit semifinalists have the opportunity to advance in the competition by meeting high academic standards and other rigorous requirements set by the scholarship program.

“I commend the academic achievements and perseverance these students demonstrated to become semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition,” Harborfields Principal Dr. Rory Manning said. “This is certainly an accomplishment that will generate a great deal of pride in our school community."
