Please join us this Saturday, April 9 for Washington Drive Primary School’s annual Walk for a Wish, to be held at 9 am at the Harborfields High School track.
To participate, students are encouraged to raise money, either through seeking donations, donating their allowances, or holding their own individual fundraisers. All money raised for the event will benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation and will be used to grant a wish to a seriously ill child.
During the school’s kick-off assembly held last month, Make-a-Wish Foundation volunteer Amy Dowling told students that this year, Washington Drive would be raising money for a three-year-old girl who suffers from chronic lung disease. Her wish is to go to Disney World. In the past, the Washington Drive community has raised a total of $31,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and has provided such wishes as a shopping spree, a cruise, a computer, and a trip to Disney World for a variety of children.
If you cannot attend the walk this Saturday, but are interested in contributing to the Walk for a Wish drive, please send donations to: WDPS Acts of Kindness Committee, c/o Washington Drive Primary School, 95 Washington Drive, Centerport, NY, 11721.
