The Oldfield Middle School guidance department hosted its 10th annual All-Star Awards ceremony to celebrate the academic and extracurricular accomplishments of more than 70 middle school students in the presence of friends, family and faculty members on May 21.

To receive an All-Star Award, a student must be nominated by one of his or her teachers on the merits of character, motivation, respect and social responsibility, as well as academic achievement, for the 2014-15 school year. Following a short introduction and examples of how a student displays “All-Star” qualities, the honorees approached the podium one by one to receive their star trophies and certificates, presented by Principal Joanne Giordano and social studies teacher and Dean of Students Jeffrey Shade.

“We are so proud of our students here today,” said guidance counselor Dahlia Roemer.
