To kick off their Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) week, teachers, parents and members of the Washington Drive Primary School PTA presented their original play entitled, “Once Upon A Book.”

As a way to help encourage and excite students about reading, the PTA puts on an interactive play each year for the students to enjoy. During the PTA’s “Once Upon a Book” performance, students watched their parents and teachers play the part of classic storybook characters including Cinderella, Snow White and her dwarfs, Goldilocks, Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty. Infused with some popular riddles and song melodies, the story followed each character as he or she shared with the audience the importance of reading and some of their favorite books to read.

In the end, Principal Maureen Kelly, playing the role of Little Red Riding Hood, stopped the Big Bad Wolf, played by Assistant Principal Tara Falasco, from stealing all the characters’ books and all the characters were happy to once again have their books to read.
