In conjunction with their social studies unit, fourth-grade students at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School learned about Native Americans during a hands-on workshop.

The program, Journey into Native American Territory, brought the history and lives of the Eastern Woodlands people into the classroom through visual presentations and group activities.

During the program, students explored a museum of Native American artifacts, which included clothing, tools and a replica longhouse. They also each took turns grinding corn and banging on a handcrafted drum.
