A team of fourth-grade students at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School recently competed in the annual WordMasters Challenge, a national vocabulary competition for students in grades 3-8 that encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning.

Competing in the difficult Blue Vision, student Allison Blosser was one of 46 fourth-graders from across the nation to receive a perfect score of 20 on the challenge. Coached by teacher Christine Mayr, TJL fourth-graders Andres Arias, Maeve Baron, Chase Brandt, Alex Braunstein, Clarissa Bues, Brooke Cheskes, Liana Flowers, Lucy MacInnes, Charles Picarillo and Samuel Sosnick also achieved outstanding results in the meet.

With their combined efforts, the team of TJL fourth-graders scored an impressive 182 out of a possible 200 points in the second of three meets this year, placing them seventh in the nation among 328 teams.
