Washington Drive Primary School in the Harborfields Central School District recently took part in the character education “bucket filler” presentation, which aims to impress upon children the idea that their words and actions affect others.

The concept of filling or emptying someone’s emotional “bucket” is one that allows children to understand the motivation behind behaviors. The presentation urges children to make a personal commitment to do their best to be bucket fillers rather than dipping into others’ buckets, and to use their “lids” to protect their buckets as well as the buckets of other people.
