Prior to its regular June business meeting, the Board of Education held a special reception for faculty and staff members who retired at the end of the 2015-16 school year, while simultaneously honoring four individuals in the school and local community for their service.

Following her welcome remarks, Superintendent of Schools Diana Todaro and Harborfields High School Principal Dr. Rory Manning introduced each of the seven retiring staff members. Retiring staff members made their way to the front of the room where they received a plaque acknowledge their retirement and years of service to the district.

The board of education and administration extends their best wishes to the following professionals and thanks them for their dedicated years of service to the students and community. Regina Antretter, high school math teacher, 31 years; Paul Lasinksi, high school health teacher and athletic trainer, 17 years; Deborah Berghela, middle school teaching assistant, 19 years; Corinne Sacco, primary school teaching assistant, 16 years; Irene Contopoulos, clerk, 27 years; Jacquelyn Martello, clerk typist, 13 years; and David McGovern, custodial staff member, seven years.

During the reception, the board began a new tradition of honoring individuals in the school and local community who have made an impact on the district and continue to do great work. They selected one teacher, community member, support staff and administrator to honor. The 2016 Board of Education Honorees were Andrew Cacciola, administrator; Claudia Carisi, community member; Christine Mayr, teacher; and Rita Vita, support staff. Congratulations to this year’s board honorees.
