Two exceptional senior HHS Scholar Athletes were honored as recipients of the 2018 Suffolk Zone Excellence in Physical Education Award on Nov. 28. The Suffolk Zone is the local chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD).

Seniors Justin Klei and Shannon Tully were nominated by their high school physical education teachers for exemplary leadership, character, and passion that they bring to the high school physical education program.

The annual Suffolk Zone award is Suffolk County’s highest award in Physical Education. Students must possess a high average in physical education achievement, be scholastically sound, exhibit leadership skills and qualities in a physical education setting, and have demonstrated overall leadership in school-wide activities. Additionally, students nominated for this honor must be outstanding role models to their peers and within the community.

In attendance for this special recognition and honor were the parents of the seniors, along with high school physical and health educators Ms. Rachel Jersky, Mr. Stefan Serie, Mr. Rob Franco, Ms. Suzanne Legge and district Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Mr. John Valente. Congratulations Justin and Shannon!
