Homecoming for Harborfields

On Oct. 27, the Harborfields football field came to life with the shouts and cheers of proud students, staff and community members supporting their Harborfields Tornado football team during the district’s annual homecoming festivities. The Centerport and Greenlawn fire departments kicked off the day, leading the parade that included the Harborfields High School marching band, kickline and cheerleaders. Cruising in a convertible car behind them were Board of Education Vice President Maggie Boba, High School Principal Dr. Rory Manning, Assistant Superintendent for Business William Nimmo and Homecoming Queen Kaitlin Cassar. (Homecoming King and football player Jack Doyle was absent from the parade, as he was preparing for the game with his team.)

During halftime, the crowd cheered on performances by the marching band, kickline and varsity cheerleaders, and grade levels vied for the top spot in the homecoming float competition, with the freshmen taking the overall win.

In the end, and despite their best efforts, the Buccaneers of Islip walked away with the victory, defeating the Tornadoes 22-14.
