During the week of Feb. 11, students at Washington Drive celebrated Healthy Heart Month, and participated in the nationwide Jump for Heart program.

During the week, students learned about the importance of being heart health and enjoyed jumping stations during their physical education classes. Students hop-scotched, jump-roped, and leaped their way through each class. Additionally, the school participated in a voluntary fundraiser for the American Heart Association, raising approximately $2,000.

“Telling the students that they had the ability to make a difference—both in their lives and in others’ around them—gets them excited, regardless of their age,” said physical education teacher Carieanne Miller. “Many students brought in a single dollar but if everyone in the country gave just one dollar, so many lives could be affected.”
