What purpose does the Council of PTAs play in the Harborfields School District? A council of parent-teacher associations is a group of local PTA units organized under the auspices of New York State PTA. The purpose of Council is to bring together all the partners in education in the school district. In Harborfields, these partners consist of all the PTA units (WD PTA, TJL PTA,OMS PTA, HHS PTSA and SEPTA), the Booster Club, the School Board of Education, school district superintendent, administration, parents, teacher representative, and of course, the children. Through Council programs, events and meetings, its primary objective is to promote the welfare of children and youth. While a council of PTAs has great latitude in responding to the needs of children, Harborfields Council traditionally provides a number of programs and activities on a consistent and yearly basis. They are as follows:
