| Judge Denies Former Superintendent's Legal Claim
A NY State Supreme Court judge ruled in favor of the Harborfields School District on Friday, September 12 in response to a claim made by former Superintendent of Schools Dr. Janet Wilson. Dr. Wilson had claimed that the Board was 'in contempt' of the Judge's previous order by not granting her a fourth year of employment. The judge rejected this claim.
The denial of this claim follows the rejection by the Commissioner of Education of an appeal by Dr. Wilson for a fourth year of employment. In his judgement, the Commissioner said that Dr. Wilson "...provides no legal basis to support her claim that she is entitled to an extension of the contract...".
"The Board of Education is pleased with these outcomes. We believe the facts of this case have always supported the Board's actions, and these recent legal decisions have affirmed our beliefs," said James T. Brennan, President of the Board of Education.
