MAIN(5).png thumbnail176383

Harborfields Central School District welcomed students back to schools on the morning of Sept. 8. Arrival procedures and morning routines went smoothly as students, faculty and staff adjusted their morning routines to adhere to new health and safety protocols put in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Upon arrival, elementary school students were greeted by administrators, teachers and staff who took their temperatures at the entrance to each building.

As part of the Secondary Hybrid Model for grades 6-12, green cohort students were similarly greeted at Oldfield Middle and Harborfields High schools. The remaining middle and high school students, or yellow cohort, will report to school on Sept. 9.

Each cohort will attend in-person instruction on a rotating basis on Mondays, starting with the green cohort on Sept. 14.

Students whose families chose the voluntary remote learning model, also started classes on Sept. 8. Remote instruction will include a combination of daily synchronous instruction using Google Meet and asynchronous instruction using Google Classroom and other software applications.

Teachers introduced all students to their new instructional settings and initiated ice-breaking activities for classmates to safely interact with their peers, make new friends and reunite with old ones. The district looks forward to a successful 2020-2021 school year!
