Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School is proud to announce that fifth-grade student Jack Steel won first place in the school’s annual Spelling Bee.

Nineteen elementary students participated in the spelling bee, all competing for the first place title and chance to represent their school at the regional competition. Down to the final two competitors, Steel claimed the first place title, while fourth-grade student Caleb Kapen received runner-up.

Steel will move on to represent his school in the Scripps National Spelling Program Regional Contest at Hofstra University on Sunday, February 8.
