As a result of their collaborative efforts, members of the Harborfields High School Global Justice Club, under the advisement of Michelle DaSilva-Burke, raised and donated $6,500 to the Magic Penny, a nonprofit organization that supports educational programs in Bompehtoke, Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Throughout the year, club members sponsored various fundraising activities in an effort to surpass their donation of $6,000 last year. In early April, the student organization hosted a schoolwide concert as their final fundraising event of the year. The annual event drew in the entire community with a variety of raffle donations. In addition, club members sold student-designed concert merchandise and baked goods to raise money. Since 2012, the annual concert has raised more than $20,000.

Global Justice Club officers presented Magic Penny President Lucy Sumner with the donation on June 12.
