Students and family members participated in Read-In Day at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School on Oct. 21. The annual event allowed family members to visit the school for a 45-minute reading session with their children or grandchildren in an effort to encourage reading.
Students and staff dressed in comfortable pajamas in honor of the day and family members brought blankets and a number of books to choose from. Students picked a safe spot outside or inside of the building to get comfortable and read. Groups of friends circled together in the hallways and around the school with adults looking at picture books and immersing themselves into stories.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the kids to read and have fun,” said Principal Marguerite Greene.
