Students of Washington Drive and TJL enthusiastically kicked off the Walk for a Wish fundraising drive. Walk for a Wish is an annual Harborfields event that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For the sixth consecutive year, participants of the event are invited to raise donations and walk around the track at Harborfields High School. This year’s Walk for a Wish will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 9 a.m.
All of the donations collected for the walk will be used to grant the wish of Talia, a child from neighboring Northport who struggles with a serious illness. Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteers John DeTurris and Jim Byrne told students that their collected efforts will allow Talia and her family to go to Disney World, something young Talia has always wanted to do.
This year’s event was co-coordinated by teachers Diane Brown, Emily Gutheil and Kathleen Taylor, with support from the Acts of Kindness Committee at WDPS and the Walk for a Wish Committee at TJL, as well as the WDPS and TJL PTAs.
If you are interested in contributing to the Walk for a Wish drive, please send donations to: WDPS Acts of Kindness Committee, c/o Washington Drive Primary School or TJL Walk for a Wish Committee, c/o Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School.
