Greenlawn Community Day:
On Saturday, October 14th, the Greenlawn Civic Association hosted Greenlawn Community Day at Coral Park in Greenlawn.  In spite of the early weather it was a great day and many of our Harborfields families, students, staff and organizations contributed to its success.  Special thanks to Kerri McGinty and Laura Pfaff for helping our student government and National Honor Society organize and run their booths.

Newsday Marching Band Festival:
Congratulations to the members of our Marching Band and Kickline for putting on a tremendous performance at this year’s Newsday Marching Band Festival.  The hard work of our students under the direction of Ms. Scilla, Mr. Bilawsky, and Ms. Best, has certainly paid dividends and drew huge applause from the crowds at Mitchell Field.  Click here to view the performance: http://www.news12varsity.com/replay-newsday-marching-band-festival-night-one-1.1883711. You can skip to 1:12:00 to see us.

Friday Night Football:
We are very excited to once again be playing a football game under the lights this Friday, October 27th.  The game will begin at 6:30pm.  All spectators will access the field from our North Parking lot.  This will be the only entrance.  The south lot gates, the Van Cott nursery entrance and the school building itself will be locked.  Additional security measures will also prohibit students from bringing bags or backpacks and open bottles of any kind onto the fields.   Also, students will not be allowed to enter after 7:30pm

Blood Drive:
On Wednesday, November 1st the SADD club will be hosting a Blood Drive from 7:45 - 1:45 in the South Gym.  Sign-ups will take place 10/20 – 10/27 during periods 3 – 8 outside of the Wall of Scholars.  Any student (age 16 and over) may donate blood during a free, elective, or PE class.  Faculty and staff members are welcome to donate throughout the day.

Mini-College Day:
Our guidance department hosted their first Mini-College day of the year on October 23rd. Approximately 50 colleges were in attendance.  It is always great to hear the positive feedback the reps give us about our students.  Thank you to Ms. Best for coordinating the effort and to our PTSA volunteers who created gift bags for the reps.

Safe Halloween:
As a reminder, next Monday, October 30th, the high school INTERACT Club will host our annual Safe Halloween event.  This is always a well-attended event and our clubs are preparing to host the younger students in the district that evening.  Candy donations can be made in Social Studies classrooms this week.

Fall Theatre Production:
This year’s Fall Theatre production will take place Friday and Saturday, November 3rd – 4th at 7pm.  Our students have been working hard on this year’s production of Antigone.  Ticket sales to be announced.

Random Acts of Kindness:
We are pleased to share that the following students were recognized for being kind when they thought nobody was looking!  Elizabeth Cuthbertson, Nicholas Kropp, Galine Thelisma, Marisa Roche, Melanie Friedman, Jamie Wrede, Sabrian O’Shea, Melanie Scholfield, Kimberley Wilkes, Katherine Moreno Escriu, PJ Clementi, Donald Mastroianni, Patrick Healy, Kevin Rodriguez, Michelle Dori, Deanna Diniro, and Lillianna Coard.
