Six Harborfields High School students were recently selected for the Suffolk County Music Educators Association’s All-County Jazz ensembles: Jackson Ferrara (lead trombone, High School Instrumental Jazz), Peter Hoss (lead tenor saxophone, High School Instrumental Jazz), Kam Johansen (lead trumpet, High School Instrumental Jazz), Hartley Semmes (trumpet, High School Instrumental Jazz), Ethan Rosenthal (drum set, High School Instrumental Jazz) and Maddie Woodward (soprano, Vocal Jazz).

With these five instrumental selections, roughly 30 percent of the SCMEA All-County High School Instrumental Jazz program will consist of Harborfields students, making Harborfields the district with the largest representation in the county in that group this year.

“Given that this is a true All-County designation, not based on school size or region, that’s all the more impressive," Harborfields High School Jazz Band Director Dan Bilawsky said. “While we have a small program compared to many schools, our students who study jazz put their all into their efforts, and these selections are a reflection of that level of commitment and hard work.”
