In honor of School Board Recognition Week, the Harborfields Central School District praised its dedicated Board of Education during the Oct. 19 meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Rory Manning asked for a round of applause for the board trustees, saying, “They are elected officials but are not compensated for their work; they do what they do out of love for our students and programs and to support our schools.” He then presented the trustees with certificates from the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association, the New York State School Boards Association and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Also recognized were noteworthy accomplishments by students and staff, including girls varsity soccer coach Scott Wallace for earning his 300th career victory; Harborfields High School Choir Director Clare Jackson for winning the Manilow Music Award; seniors Daniel Panettieri, Darien Schultz and Maxmillian Stratton for being named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists; and seniors Christopher Hummel, Caleb Kapen, Faelan Kennedy, Krista Lin, Julia McDonagh and Lindsay Sung for being named National Merit Scholarship Commended Students.
