During the Feb. 15 meeting, the Harborfields Central School District Board of Education honored Oldfield Middle School student Olivia Rochlin for collecting 400 pounds of uniforms, cleats, socks, shin guards and other athletic equipment for HELP International Uganda. After collecting the items, Olivia then organized the collection with an inventory list and placed the items in suitcases weighing just under 50 pounds for transport.

HELP International’s goal is to fight poverty and empower individuals by connecting individual donors, like Rochlin, to urgent issues facing global communities. By answering HELP International Uganda’s request for sports uniforms, she helped to improve the quality of life in one of the most vulnerable populations in the world.

“This is an extremely thoughtful undertaking that speaks volumes about your character,” Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics Robert Franco said regarding Rochlin. “The time and commitment you have given to help others is everything we want our students to embody here in Harborfields.”
