In a special Kids for Community collaboration between the Harborfields Central School District and South Huntington School District, Washington Drive Primary School invited classes from the latter’s Countrywood Primary Center and Oakwood Primary Center for a half-day of team-building activities on May 3.

Second graders from both districts had exchanged pen pal letters before meeting up at the field trip. The Kids for Community event provided an opportunity to build connections with other students from the greater Huntington community. Huntington Town Councilman Dr. Dave Bennardo was in attendance.

“The hope is that this event will be the first of many to foster friendships and collaboration among Town of Huntington districts,” Washington Drive Principal Kathy McNally said. “The connections our students form with one another can help to strengthen our community and inspire change. Thank you to the incredible team who participated in making this inspirational idea a reality – our teachers, community members, central administration and Dr. Bennardo.”
