Harborfields Budget Passes; Two New Trustees Elected to the Board of Education

On Tuesday, May 20, the Harborfields Central School District community voted and passed the 2025-2026 school budget with a vote of 817 to 165.
The voters supported the spending plan which expands educational opportunities while remaining within the allowable tax cap. The $102,398,324 budget is a 2.64% increase from the current $99,764,898.
The budget preserves all current student programs and services while investing in upgrades for security, cybersecurity, and technology. Some of the highlights include a new CTE Marketing program at Harborfields High School, a morning orchestra program at Oldfield Middle School, a girl’s Junior Varsity flag football team, and additional electives. The district also plans to purchase four security vehicles to further enhance student and staff safety.
The Board of Education had two seats open. The trustee candidates, Dr. Jeanette Wojcik and Dr. Becky Dorsogna, were elected at large to the two spots currently held by Colleen Wolcott and Hansen Lee, who did not run for re-election. Dr. Wojcik received 775 votes and Dr. Dorsogna received 738 votes.
In a letter to the community, Dr. Manning, Superintendent of Schools, shared these thoughts about the passing of the budget: “Each year, the Board of Education undertakes the important responsibility of crafting a budget that not only sustains the district’s tradition of educational excellence but also advances meaningful opportunities and experiences for all students. The vision of Each Child, Each Day, One Harborfields Family is deeply embedded in every element of this spending plan, and we are deeply grateful for your continued trust and partnership. Thank you for your enduring support of our students, our staff, and our shared vision for the future of Harborfields.”
