Harborfields Flips the Switch on New Stadium Lights

Cheers erupted throughout James T. Brennan Memorial Field on Friday, September 5, as the Harborfields Central School District unveiled its brand new stadium lights during a community-wide celebration. The milestone project marks a new era for Harborfields athletics, expanding opportunities for student-athletes and creating lasting traditions for the entire community.
“These lights represent more than just a capital project,” said Dr. Rory Manning, Superintendent of Schools. “They represent pride, spirit, and opportunities for our students, staff, and community. We are thrilled the community came together to celebrate this exciting addition to our stadium field.”
Before kickoff, the Harborfields Booster Club hosted family fun activities, including sideline sports clinics with high school athletes for younger students, face painting, cotton candy, and more.
The celebration continued at halftime of the football scrimmage with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mr. Rob Franco, Director of Athletics, and Dr. Rory Manning, Superintendent of Schools, shared heartfelt sentiments about the lights and what they mean for the entire community. The first 300 fans in attendance received commemorative light-up bracelets, which helped light the stands during a crowd-wide wave, led by Dr. Manning. Then members of the Board of Education, Harborfields Booster Club, and student-athletes stepped forward to hold the ribbon together. After a community countdown, Board President Susan Broderick cut the ribbon and the new lights burst into a dazzling display synchronized to “HandClap” by Fitz & The Tantrums. Cheerleaders from the high school and youth teams danced and cheered on the track while the crowd clapped excitedly beneath the bright glow of the lights.
From Friday night football games to other athletic contests and milestone ceremonies like high school graduation, the district looks forward to creating lasting memories under the lights.
