Powering Up Esports

One of the brand new clubs at the high school this year, Esports, aims to transform students’ passion for competitive gaming into a platform for developing essential skills such as critical thinking, decision-making, and collaboration. You could feel the excitement at the first meeting of the club, where twenty students showed up to power up and play! Student engagement was notably high due to the collaborative opportunities that Esports provides, which require real-time communication and strategy.
Esports Club Advisor Ms. DeVaney began by gauging student interest in the types of games they’d like to participate in and getting them started with the Esports gaming platform, PlayVS. Members from the IT department are available during the club meeting times to help troubleshoot any technical issues and provide insight about the games.
The Esports Club looks forward to a fantastic year of collaborative growth, strategic problem-solving, and student achievement!
The club is open to all skill levels and meets the first and third Wednesday of the month in the TV studio.
