A Lesson in Resilence and Remebrance at HHS

Board of Education Vice President Dr. Eve Meltzer-Krief and Harborfields parent Mrs. Jane Pashman recently visited Harborfields High School to share personal family stories connected to the Holocaust. Mrs. Pashman spoke about her maternal grandmother, her nagymami, while Dr. Meltzer-Krief shared her mother’s story of resilience.
The students listened with care and responded through creative expression, producing mixed-media artwork that reflects their reactions to the stories. These pieces will be displayed in the high school lobby during the Names, Not Numbers documentary screening on January 22, a project overseen by Mrs. Pashman in her role as Program Director at the Suffolk Y JCC.
Thank you to Dr. Meltzer-Krief and Mrs. Pashman for trusting our students with their stories and ensuring they are understood and remembered.
