It was a pleasure joining our soon-to-be graduates, including Matty Fey pictured here, as they participated in the Kindergarten handoff at Washington Drive.  Congratulations to all our seniors and their families!

Happy Father’s Day

This Father’s Day, we celebrate all the fathers and father figures whose guidance, support, and love make a lasting impact in the lives of our students. Your presence and encouragement help shape the strong foundation our children need to grow and thrive. We are grateful for all that you do and hope you enjoy a day filled with appreciation and joy.  I hope everyone takes time to enjoy the day with family and friends today!

The Final Countdown

As we wrap up another tremendous school year this week, I want to take a moment to thank you all for the continued support, partnership, and pride you bring to our district. Congratulations to our graduating seniors, the Class of 2026! We are so proud of your accomplishments, your growth, and the legacy you leave behind at Harborfields. We look forward to celebrating you at your commencement ceremony this Friday, our first ever under the lights. As you step into the next chapter of your lives, know that you carry with you the strength, resilience, and spirit that define this community.

To our administrators, teachers, and staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication to our students and families. Your hard work, compassion, and commitment have made a lasting impact, and your efforts throughout the year do not go unnoticed.

And to our families, thank you for your partnership. Your ongoing support of our students and staff plays a vital role in the success of our schools.

This will be my last 5-Minute Update for the school year. I wish everyone a restful, safe, and joyful summer. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall, refreshed and ready for another great year together! Have a happy and healthy summer!

K-8 Art Show

The Harborfields High School lobby became a showcase of student talent at this year's K-8 Art Exhibit! Families stopped by to admire artwork from WDPS, TJL, and OMS, while student artists were celebrated with certificates from their art teachers, Mr. Maresco, Ms. Hansen, Mr. Taveras, and Ms. Belmonte. Congratulations to all of our young artists for filling the gallery with such imaginative creations!

SEPTA Appreciation Awards Dinner

I had the pleasure of attending this year’s SEPTA Appreciation Dinner with members of the Board of Education, administrators, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Kathy Robinson, Mr. Kevin Krzeminski, Ms. Nicole Ercolano, and Ms. Kelley McLaughlin on receiving SEPTA’s Distinguished Service Award, and Mr. Thomas Hessel, Troop 32 Scoutmaster, for receiving the Community Advocacy Award.

It was a great evening celebrating the work our entire community does to ensure the success of each child, each day, as one Harborfields family. Thank you, SEPTA, for all you do for our students and families!

Superintendent’s Spotlight - K-12 Art Program

As part of my monthly Superintendent’s Report to the Board of Education, I have the pleasure of spotlighting different programs, highlighting the outstanding work that is going on throughout the district.  This month, it was a pleasure to spotlight our entire K-12 Art Department.  Click on the video below to get a glimpse at the amazing work of our fabulous teachers and talented students.  Thank you, as always, to our staff who take time to prepare these spotlight programs!

Senior Video

Last week, high school students celebrated the official last day of classes for the school year! We’re incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work, resilience, and growth throughout the year. To commemorate the last day, seniors came together to watch the senior video, which included pictures and videos of the class from kindergarten through their senior year. Mrs. Ritter, art teacher and photojournalism advisor, and her team did another extraordinary job of documenting the many milestones and memories of the Class of 2026. Thank you to Mrs. Ritter and the many teachers, families, and students who contributed pictures and videos.

Here are some of my favorite moments from this past week:

Harborfields High School

The Class of 2026 came together for Senior Sunset, an evening filled with laughter, memories, and time spent with friends as they prepare for the next chapter of their journey.  Thank you to our PTSA for hosting and supporting this special event.

Oldfield Middle School

On Monday afternoon, OMS celebrated the dedicated three and four-sport athletes! Thank you to all the student athletes for your hard work and commitment this year.

Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School

At the Helping Hands Lemonade Stand, students from the Leadership Club, Student Council, and EnviroLions worked together to raise money for two incredible organizations: Little Shelter Animal Rescue and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Through their efforts, students demonstrated the power of leadership, service, and giving back to others.

Washington Drive Primary School

Throughout the week, WDPS held heartwarming farewell ceremonies for the second grade classes. We are so incredibly proud of how much these students have grown, learned, and shined this year. While we will miss seeing their smiling faces in our hallways, we know they are ready to take on TJL next year!

Announcements & Shoutouts

Our Fashionable Tornado

Taylor the Tornado has been quite busy attending many end-of-year events. Luckily, Harborfields High School junior Grace Peterson channeled her fashion and design expertise to create a custom-made graduation gown for the Tornado to wear! Special shoutout to Mrs. Rottkamp, who finished the look by making the graduation cap!

Wellness Wire - Summer Edition

A big thank you to the members of our PTA Health and Wellness Committee for their hard work throughout this year to bring innovative programming and events to our students and to our community.  They recently published the summer edition of the Harborfields Wellness Wire, which is filled with great ideas and valuable information for everyone.  Please click the picture below to read the newsletter.  You won’t regret it!
