Wilson Withdraws Appeal to Commissioner

In a letter dated February 22nd and received March 1, the Board of Education has been informed by counsel to former Superintendent Janet Wilson that she has withdrawn an appeal to the Commissioner of Education. This announcement marks yet another victory for the district in the legal matter against the district begun by Dr. Wilson during the 2007/2008 school year.

In the Spring of 2008, the Commissioner of Education rejected a petition by Dr. Wilson asking to invalidate the action of the Board to not renew Dr. Wilson’s contract in June 2007. Dr. Wilson appealed this decision, but before a ruling could be made, abandoned the appeal. Dr. Wilson’s abandonment of the appeal to the Commissioner comes in the wake of a related decision by the NYS Court of Appeals, which denied Dr. Wilson’s petition to revisit the same decision to not renew her contract in June of 2007.

To this point, all litigation brought by Dr. Wilson against the district has ultimately been unsuccessful. As previously noted, the Board of Education is pleased to have prevailed in this matter.
