Oldfield Middle School students in Jen Saidens’s and Amanda. Hammerschmitt’s literacy classes recently created superheroes in the school’s Makerspace.
The project, which was a culmination between the classes and the middle school library, was based on a text from Scope Magazine. It Inspired students to use their imaginations and materials from the Makerspace to decide what their superheroes would look like and what their special powers and abilities would be.
After writing a description of their hero, students recorded their presentations in the library using the iPads. Finally, using the QR Reader, students were able to listen to their peers’ presentations. “It was an exciting few days,” Mrs. Saidens said.
